FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE Cascade Sun Works of Redmond Oregon has been awarded a contract from Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for the solar engineering and project oversight for the rehabilitation of the Solar Shower Facility at Tumalo State Park. The new system incorporates 20 solar hot water panels mounted on the southerly facing roof heating a 1,800 gallon storage tank. In addition to feeding 10 showers, the system will furnish radiant heat for several showers open throughout the year. PCI Mechanical Construction of Portland is the General Contractor and C.R. Fabrication LTD. Of Redmond is the mechanical contractor on the project. According to Douglas Railton, President of Cascade Sun Works, this project represents the continuing acceptance of well engineered and professionally installed solar hot water systems as method of significantly reducing fuel costs. We can look at the resultant benefits to the community in several ways. With over 60,000kW/year in energy offset produced by this system, we have enough electricity to power six to ten homes per year. Over the projected project lifetime this amount of energy savings will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 600 tons or furnish a typical vehicle getting 25 mpg 1,200,000 miles of pollution free driving.
