Our Mission

Established in 2001, Cascade Sun Works provides contracting, engineering, installation, service and maintenance for all areas of the renewable energy field.  We believe that existing technologies have the ability to reduce a building's energy needs by at least 50%.  Our approach to all of our customer's needs is to have a complete understanding of the total building energy requirements, evaluate potential energy conservation measures and then design a system that meets those needs. 

Our team brings a level of professionalism to the solar industry that few others can match.  Our sales staff are well educated and versed in energy and system requirements.  By understanding your wishes and requirements, we then proceed to select a system from either the products we represent or proceed to our engineering personnel.  Our engineering capabilities and solutions for our customers are second to none.  Capabilities range from designing simple systems that out perform the competition to elaborate integrated multi-function systems that can be controlled remotely.  Installation of all systems is either done by us, or overseen by us.  We then can insure that the system delivered to you will perform as you expected and furnish you with many years of trouble free service.

We are not a one-hat fits all type of company.  Our staff is selected based on the skills and experience that they bring to the company.  We invest in on-going education, training seminars and other continuous learning efforts improve our ability to serve our customers.  The education and experience of many brings your system to fruition.

 As a company, we endeavor to bring our knowledge to you.  We hold energy workshops at our facility whereby you can participate with actual real-life situations to determine the best solutions that fit your individual energy needs.  Accredited continuing education classes developed and taught by us for the construction industry are an excellent way that we bring a higher level of understanding to our building community.  We teach courses through our local community college designed to bring you to a higher level of understanding on a variety of your energy related issues.  We participate at all levels from membership to board level activities with numerous related community and industry organizations.  No other solar or energy contractor in Oregon comes close to our investment in the community.

Our Staff

Douglas Railton, President
Douglas Railton has over thirty years experience as a naval architect and international businessman.  Doug has extensive advanced propulsion and thermal systems engineering, as well as a thorough knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.  Doug has had numerous technical papers published by international renowned agencies.  Doug has provided consulting services to the governments of Sri Lanka, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel, Thailand, India, Taiwan, Indonesia and Brazil on the manufacture of high speed marine propellers and marine engineering systems.  Doug also developed a PET recycling plant on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico handling over 100 tons of formerly waste plastic (PET) bottles per month.
