Elegant Tuscany style 2950 ft2 home with numerous energy efficient
systems.
Tarra Construction of Redmond selected Cascade Sun Works to install an integrated DayStar Solar Hot Water system with a radiant floor heating system for this Redmond residence. Also installed is a 3Kw Grid-Tied PV system. This home in on the 2005 COBA Tour of Homes.
Radiant Floor Heating
This open loop radiant floor system uses a Takagi T-M1 as the heat source
driving through a secondary loop manifold system that includes an outdoor reset
for energy conservation. Mixing is through an injection system with Tekmar
reset control. Wirsbo TruFLOW series manifolds were installed for the various
zones throughout the house. The lower floor is slab on grade while the upper
floor is 1 1/2" Gypsum underlayment.
Solar Hot Water
The DayStar Solar Hot Water system consists of three Heliodyne Gobi 410
collector and an HP-16 heat exchanger coupled to two 119 gallon storage tanks.
This system qualified for the State of Oregon Solar Hot Water Tax Credit.
3 kW Grid Tied PV System
18 Isofoton 165 watt PV modules are mounted on the southerly facing roof
below the hot water panels furnishing power to a PV Powered StarInverter PVP
2800-XV. SunEarth CompRail PV mounting system was used for this application
enhancing the look as well as reducing the installation time.
