Cascade Sun Works Current Projects |
Sisters, Oregon
Phase one of this project was installing a complete
power system as well as low voltage water system. Phase two
included a 2,700 ft2 off grid residence equipped with
solar hot water and a radiant floor. Cascade Sun Works, Inc. was
the heating and solar contractor for this project. Also
included was the installation of two 10" Natural Light Tubular
Skylights.
This open loop radiant floor system uses a propane Takagi T-K2 Instantaneous Hot Water Heater as the heat source driving through a secondary loop manifold system that includes an outdoor reset for energy conservation. Mixing is through a Wirsbo controller and a 4-way mixing valve. Wirsbo TruFLOW series manifolds were installed for the various zones throughout the house.
The Solar Hot Water system is comprised of a Heliodyne Gobi 410 collector and an HP-16 heat exchanger coupled to an 80 gallon storage tank. The solar system pre-feeds the Takagi for domestic hot water. When solar resources are available, they supplement the radiant floor system. This system qualified for the State of Oregon Solar Hot Water Tax Credit.
