Oregon Parks and Recreation Department contracted with Cascade Sun Works to engineer the solar renovation of an existing solar hot water facility on the Solar Shower Building at Tumalo State Park.

PCI Mechanical Construction of Portland was the general contractor
CR Fabrication, Ltd. of Redmond installed the DayStar Thermal System.

The existing solar collectors, roof hardware, control systems and piping were removed from the building.  20 Heliodyne Gobi 410 collectors were mounted on the roof and piped to a new DayStar control system designed and built by Cascade Sun Works.  The facility includes a solar hot water storage tank of 1,800 gallons, radiant heat for two winterized shower stalls is also supplied.  This system can produce over 800,000 BTUs of hot water per day.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department recognized the value to the public with this facility by incorporating an interpretive education kiosk on the building illustrating the solar production in a graphic form.  This DayStar Solar Hot Water System by Cascade Sun Works will prevent about 42,500 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions each year - over the 20 year projected lifetime of the system it adds up to over  425 tons.
