Cascade Sun Works Current Projects |
Sisters, Oregon
Cascade Sun Works supplied this off-grid home with both a complete
power system as well as low voltage water system. The power
system was completely built and tested in shop prior to site
erection. At the present time, the first phase of this
project the the power system is furnishing the shop with all power
requirements and the property with water needs. The second
phase will be building the home. The complete pre-built and
tested power system was delivered on site and within several hours
the building was powered up.
The power system consists of an OutBack Power Panel with a Trace SW5548 inverter, Trace TM500 Battery Condition Indicator and a Solar Boost 3048 Charge Controller. The inverter feeds a standard 200 amp service panel furnishing the building with normal 110 volt power.
Power is supplied by an expandable PV array consisting of four 165 watt, 24 vdc Sharp photovoltaic panels. The present array can be doubled when required. Back up power is supplied by an Alaska Diesel 6.0 kW auto-start generator. At present the battery capacity is 800 amp hours at 48 vdc.
A Dankoff 48vdc deep well pump was set at 620 feet pumping water into a 1,500 gallon cistern. Domestic water is supplied from a Solar Boost 48 vdc cistern pump.
Trinity Electric of Redmond was selected by Cascade Sun Works as the electrical contractor.
