DayStar Thermal System furnishing domestic hot water as well as a
supplement source of heat for the radiant floor heating system and
Hot Tub.
The system consists of a DayFlow multi-zone control with 320 ft2 of collection,
5000 gallons of storage and two Takagi T-M1 back-up instantaneous
hot water heaters. This system can
produce over 320,000 BTUs of hot water per day.
Cascade Sun Works engineered and installed this complex solar system integrating radiant floor, spa heating as well as Domestic Hot Water needs.
The DayStar Thermal Solar System built in Bend was used for the solar heat and storage requirements. The system consists of a Daystar DayFlow Dual Solar Control unit with 500 gallons of storage and 240 ft2 of solar collection. Six Heliodyne Gobi collectors were mounted on two southerly facing roofs supplying up to 240,000 btu’s per day of energy for use in heating and domestic hot water use.
The DayStar DayFlow Dual Control and Distribution Unit supplies the intelligence for the solar hot water control. This unit is a fully integrated system incorporating heat exchange between the solar collectors radiant floor, spa, potable water system, pumping, control and service functions all conveniently mounted in an integrated package. 500 gallons of hot water storage is supplied for the system. Two T-MI Takagi instantaneous hot water heaters supply back up water for the household needs. Heating is based on a four zone radiant floor system using a Viessmann boiler with Roth Radiant Floor Panels. Floor coverings are slate, tile and carpet.
